El Paso Rubber Recycling
Owners: Alberto Gonzalez and Chris Ramirez
“We were able to expand our knowledge of running our business with the assistance of the SBDC and ITC.”
El Paso Rubber Recycling started as a class project for Alberto Gonzalez and Christoper Ramirez. While attending the UTEP the Engineering Leadership & Education majors had to create a mock company as part of a junior course. The idea began with home based research on how the Paso del Norte region faced several waste management problems. A solution to combat discarded tires and industry manufactured scrap arose.
They found several ways to reuse these materials to create eco-friendly products, while saving the environment and contributing to the local economy. Their project was approved by UTEP professors; and a small business developed with the assistance of the SBDC.
